MINIMUNDUS, the miniature world at Lake Wörthersee, is a place to enjoy, stay a while, learn interesting things, have fun, see and experience. The approximately 150 models of famous structures, trains and ships take visitors on a trip around the world in miniature format. Around the world in one day! Visiting the Sydney Opera House, strolling under the Eiffel Tower, taking a picture in front of the Taj Mahal, enjoying an ice cream in front of St Peter’s Basilica, admiring the Statue of Liberty, and many more things.
The core elements of MINIMUNDUS are the models that are constructed with close attention to the smallest details on a scale of 1:25 and, if technically feasible, by using original materials, like sandstone, basalt lava or marble. They are created in the MINIMUNDUS model workshop, by schools or by expert model makers. Even the smallest details - shutters, ornaments, street lamps - are accurate here.
The technical models enjoy special popularity, for example the various trains that chug around their route through the park and cover 5,000 km per train set per year, or the Space Shuttle that sets off to new worlds every hour.
With a visit to MINIMUNDUS you will also be supporting children and young people in Carinthia. MINIMUNDUS is owned by the Carinthian charity "SAVE THE CHILDREN", and the net proceeds of the miniature world all go to support children, young people and families in need.
