The Oberbarmen stop is the eastern terminal of the Wuppertal suspension railway line and was renovated in 2012. Behind the terminal, the longest suspension railway depot in the world will soon be completed. As part of the renovation work, the platform façade was redesigned. Other than that, this stop along the Barm route will retain its traditional, characteristic aspect and also integrate historic roof girders. The planned shortening of intervals to just 90 seconds will require a second reverse loop to be built in the front area of the depot so that trains will no longer need to travel through the whole depot in order to reverse. In order to be able to keep even more wagons here in future, the depot will be extended by 30m and visually adapted to fit in with the existing building.
