These wooden constructions with their ladder-like walls made out of poles, also known as “Kese” in the local dialect, are still dotted over the landscape in the western valleys of Carinthia and East Tyrol. Earlier on, the airy constructions were used to dry cut fodder, grain and other agricultural products, as well as to store tools.
